2017 Eisteddfod – Music

A huge congratulations to all students involved in the 2017 Albury Wodonga Eisteddfod. Their musicianship was outstanding, their conduct exemplary, and they really were wonderful ambassadors for our College. A big thank you also to the very talented Music staff who were involved – Lauren Schmutter for her exceptional work with the vocalists, Lisa Cadman for her excellent piano accompaniment, and Keith Miles for his tireless work setting up the PAs for the Rock Bands, not to mention his bus driving skills! The College music students that participated in this year’s eisteddfod achieved outstanding results.

Here were the results:

Charli Kay – 15 & 16 Year Old Aggregate Winner, 1^st Place 15 & 16 Years Unaccompanied Section, 1^st Place 15 & 16 Years Character Song, 1^st Place 15 & 16 Years Classical Song, 2^nd Place 15 & 16 Years Traditional Song, 2^nd Place 15 & 16 years Australian Song, 3^rd Place 15 & 16 Years Sacred Song.

Chelsea Barton – 1^st Place 15 & 16 Years Unaccompanied Song, 2^nd Place 15 & 16 Years Jazz/Pop Song, Highly Commended 15 & 16 Years Character Song, 1^st Place 16 years and Under Vocal Duets (with Madeleine Kay), 1^st Place 16 Years & Under Sibling Duets (with Jenna Barton).

Holly Kupa – 1^st Place 15 & 16 Years Sacred Song, 2^nd Place 15 & 16 Years Character Song, Highly Commended 15 & 16 Years Traditional Song.

Madeleine Kay – 1^st Place 16 Years & Under Vocal Duets (with Chelsea Barton), 2^nd Place 15 & 16 Years Unaccompanied Song, Highly Commended 15 & 16 Years Character Song.

Sydney Bax – 1^st Place 15 & 16 Years Jazz/Pop Song, 2^nd Place 16 Years & Under Vocal Duets (with Cobra Cullinger).

In addition to these magnificent individual results, WSSC students also excelled in the following Ensemble Sections;

• 1^st, 2^nd & 3^rd in the Rock Band Section (students Candice Tassie, Jonathan Colombera, Dylan Zurek, Murray Fulwood, Josh Jones, Daniel Burgess, Zac Ryan, Michael Willcox, Lane Anderson, Rhye Sheddon and Eric Anderson).
• 2^nd Place School Vocal Ensembles (all of the vocalists listed above, plus Taneille Wade & Tamsyn Beard).
• Highly Commended School A Capella Section.
