{"id":28760,"date":"2018-10-18T19:50:24","date_gmt":"2018-10-18T08:50:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.wssc.vic.edu.au\/?p=28760"},"modified":"2018-11-15T09:08:19","modified_gmt":"2018-11-14T22:08:19","slug":"28760","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.wssc.vic.edu.au\/?p=28760","title":{"rendered":"Attaining Scouts Top Award"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Two and a half years of hard work and perseverance pays off, for Year 12 student Madeline Tomkins, receiving one of the most prestigious awards that a Scout can obtain.\u00a0Madeline has recently received the award of the Queens Scout which is awarded to only a small percentage of Scouts each year, attaining this top award for displaying each of the following, Initiative, sustained effort, self-discipline, teamwork and leadership.<\/p>\n<p>Earning this award has seen Madeline develop a sought after skill set, working within the community to achieve seventeen different badges which took a great deal of time to complete.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-28763\" src=\"http:\/\/www.wssc.vic.edu.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/MadelineQueenScout-1024x655.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"732\" height=\"468\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.wssc.vic.edu.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/MadelineQueenScout-1024x655.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.wssc.vic.edu.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/MadelineQueenScout-300x192.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.wssc.vic.edu.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/MadelineQueenScout-768x492.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 732px) 100vw, 732px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Year 12 student Madeline Tomkins Queen\u2019s Scout\u00a0recipient<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Completing an amazing 400 hours of documented work over the span of two and a half years which involved obtaining seventeen individual badges, collating quite a hefty binder of reports and badge activity statements.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-28766 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/www.wssc.vic.edu.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/MadelineQueenScout1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"181\" height=\"279\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.wssc.vic.edu.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/MadelineQueenScout1.jpg 414w, https:\/\/www.wssc.vic.edu.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/MadelineQueenScout1-195x300.jpg 195w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 181px) 100vw, 181px\" \/>\u201cI really enjoyed going out and meeting new people, because being part of Scouts you get to meet other people like you from various regions\u201d Madeline\u00a0said.<\/p>\n<p>Madeline has used this amazing achievement on her early application form at La Trobe University, where she wishes to study to become a pediatrician after completing her VCE at our College. Our students are active members within our local community, taking opportunities to give back through extra-curricula activities, the College Graduate Program and in their own time.
