On Tuesday the 6th of September students from across all year levels had the opportunity to engage with local employers to hear their thoughts on ‘What Employers Want’ from them in the work force and employment.

The session included round table discussions with employers from a number of differing industries including building, plumbing, automotive, landscaping, youth, IT and community services, engineering, and hair/beauty. Students were able to understand how the employers got to where they are today and generally what they look for in an apprentice or trainee.

I would like to take the opportunity to thank Wodonga TAFEs Job and Skills Centre in conjunction with Wodonga Senior Secondary College for making this seminar possible, including the support of some fantastic local employers. The Skills Centre is an ongoing free service that anyone can access to gain support with job applications and resume writing and workshops around pre-apprenticeship courses and options.
