The Year 10 Outdoor Education class hit the slopes up at Falls Creek on Thursday the 18th and 25th of August. It was a beautiful partly cloudy day with some snow melting on parts of the road. The group learnt how to plough and turn on the snow. They practiced this at ‘The Bowl’ and challenged themselves to go over a small ski jump. It was a fun experience with many falls that were all a part of the fun. The group after lunch enjoyed a ski out to the lake and back to Windy Corner before heading home again.

The following week the group again headed back up to Falls Creek for another cross country ski adventure. This time we were lucky as a dumping of snow had happened on the weekend, so there was plenty of snow to ski on. We ventured across the dam wall practising the skills learnt on the last trip as we headed around the dam taking in the views. The lake was partially frozen over, making it glisten in the sunshine. After splitting into two groups to try different tracks we had lunch before heading back as it started to snow. It turned into a snowstorm with fog and snow coming in. It was a magical experience for the students to experience how the weather can change so quickly from sunny to snowing.
