EAL students from WSSC and WMYC participated in a swimming program this term, funded by a Wodonga Council Community Grant which was received in collaboration with Sanctuary Refugee Group and Albury Wodonga Ethnic Communities Council. The program ran for 10 weeks and was held at the Wodonga Sports & Leisure Centre. The students learnt valuable swimming skills, such as basic strokes, diving, rescue skills, use of life jackets and swim equipment, and how to swim in a variety of water conditions. The confidence and skills attained through this program are timely with the approach of summer. A big thank you to everyone who was involved in making this program happen – Wodonga Council, AWECC, MVSRG, Wodonga Leisure Centre, and our helpful bus drivers (Garry Brook, Matt Moylan, Lorinda Peters, Julie Taylor).
