Wodonga Senior Secondary College had a great day out at WAVES Wodonga for the 2023 Upper Hume Division Championships on the 28th February. Our College had a total of 20 students representing the school at this level which saw some amazing results from our students.

Wodonga Senior Secondary College come in as the 7th overall School in the School Team Rankings on the day. We received a total of over 200 points (206.5), great effort!
There were a number of amazing individual performances on the day. Abbey Freeman (18) won the first swimming race of the day, winning the Women’s 16-20 years Freestyle event by nearly 10 seconds! Abbey also won her 100m Freestyle event and was 18-20 years Women’s Individual Score Champion with 44 points overall. She will be representing WSSC at the SSV Hume Region Swimming Champions in 6 events. Well Done Abbey!

We had another individual success in the Women’s events with Sophie Payne (19) coming 2nd in the 18-20 years Women’s Individual Score Champion on 41 points. The highlights of her day were 1st in 18-20 years Women’s 50m Freestyle and winning 18-20 years Women’s Butterfly Freestyle event. Sophie will also be representing the school at the SSV Hume Region Swimming Championships in 4 events.

Natasha Hall and Bianca Hall along with Abbey Freeman and Sophie Payne will also be representing WSSC at the SSV Hume Region Swimming in the Women’s Relay. Good Luck girls!

We also had success in the Men’s swimming events with Judd Gavrilovic (17) receiving a podium finish in 5 events! A highlight of the day was Judd coming equal second in the 17 years Men’s 50m Butterfly event where he received the exact same time as his competitor. Judd will also be representing our College at the next stage in 4 events.

Well done to all of our students that participated on the day and good luck to those who will be going on to the next stage on the 17th of March at the SSV Hume Region Swimming Championships held at WAVES Pool, Wodonga.
