Last July school holidays, Brody Lyons and Brandon Iddles were successful in being accepted into the Spark Engineering program that provided a transformative week-long residential camp at the University of Melbourne.

During the week Brody and Brandon were able to experience engineering and STEM through hands-on activities, personal development workshops, and an immersive university experience. They stayed in the University of Melbourne dorms along with other successful student applicants. Apart from attending hands-on workshops, visiting leading university campuses, and stepping inside top engineering firms, Brody and Brandon were able to connect with an extensive professional network of Alumni, Rotary Clubs and industry representatives. Brody and Brandon described their experience as ‘amazing’.

Spark Engineering is running another camp during the January School Holidays next year.

If you are interested in applying for this please read the information below or contact Vicki Northey nov@wssc.vic.edu.au.

Who can apply?

Students must be in Years 10-12 in 2027 to be eligible for Spark Engineering Camp 2027. This means current Year 9-11 students are eligible to apply.

Applicants must also be available for the full duration of the camp (11th-16th January 2027), as attendance for the entire program is required.

How does the application process work?

Students going into Years 10-12 in 2027 complete the Student Application Form.

A nominator completes the Nominator Form. A student’s nominator can be their teacher, careers counsellor, mentor, or another trusted adult who knows them well.

A student’s application is only considered complete once both forms have been submitted.

Applications close Sunday, 13th of September at 4:00pm AEST. Or visit the Spark Engineering website.

The camp is free for successful applicants.
