Home / VET Unique Student Number

23rd March 2015

Dear Parent/ Guardian,

USI (Unique Student Identifier)

From 1st January 2015 all students studying a VET course at Wodonga Senior Secondary College will be required to have a Unique Student Number (USI). This is a Federal Government requirement.

Information as to how a student can gain a USI can be found at http://usi.gov.au.

It is recommended for students to quote their Medicare number.

Depending on individual circumstances, other identifications can be used as indicated:

Driver’s Licence

Medicare Card

Australian Passport

Visa (with Non-Australian Passport) for international students

Birth Certificate (Australian) *please note a Birth Certificate extract is not sufficient

Certificate Of Registration By Descent

Citizenship Certificate

ImmiCard

It is important that when students are creating their Number to HAVE THEIR NAME SPELT CORRECTLY. Eg   Bob should be Robert (if he is a Robert).  Hyphenated names need to be used in full.

When the student hits the submit button it will be crossed checked in Canberra. A Number will only be issued if the student enters the correct information.

Students will be able to create a USI number during a VET class or at home but will need to have a Medicare Number. The created USI number will then be entered on the VET System at Wodonga Senior Secondary College.

Without this number, students will not be able to enrol in any VET courses.

Please forward you USI to your teacher or email this to Jim Morris, school VET Coordinator.
