WSSC welcome teachers from Indonesia for Professional Learning Program

This week, Wodonga Senior Secondary College will support two teachers from Indonesia as they participate in the Australian Awards in Indonesia. This Professional Development Program, funded by the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, supports Indonesian education professionals and future leaders, to visit Victoria to access and share high-quality professional development opportunities.

The four-day Program, includes school-visits and a homestay with Wodonga Senior Secondary College teachers, and will allow the teachers from Indonesia the opportunity to be fully immersed in Australian culture and observe local education practice first-hand. In additional to this, the Indonesian teachers will also build intercultural capability and share teaching practice with their counterparts and enhance the teaching of Indonesian language and culture in their own classroom.

Wodonga Senior Secondary College Principal, Mr. Vern Hilditch said of the program, ‘This will be a fantastic opportunity for the whole Wodonga Senior community to develop our understanding of Indonesian history, society and culture, and in turn, our intercultural understanding and global competencies. We hope this is just the start of a mutually beneficial and long-term relationship with our visiting friends.’

The Indonesian teachers will arrive in Wodonga on Sunday 27th of November will work with teachers from Wodonga Senior Secondary College to build upon knowledge, skills and attitudes to influence their professional field and their wider communities.
