Dear Parents/Guardians,

The General Achievement Test (GAT) will run at WSSC on Wednesday 12th June. All normal classes will be cancelled for the day to allow students to attend the GAT. Students have received information regarding the test through assemblies, email, and through Graduate Program classes. The year level and program your child is enrolled in will determine what they are required to attend on the day and when:

All students (including year 12 VCAL students) enrolled in at least one Year 12 VCE subject or any of the scored VET subjects listed at the bottom of the letter:

  • MUST attend the externally-assessed GAT from 10:00am to 1:15pm
  • Should arrive at school by 9:30am
  • Are dismissed from school after 1:15pm
  • Have received an individual timetable with details of the venue for their test (either 

Galvin Hall or the Trade Training Centre)

All year 11 students (including year 11 VCAL students) enrolled in at least one Year 11 VCE subject or any of the VET subjects listed at the bottom of the letter:

  • Must attend the internally-assessed practice GAT from 9:00am to 12:15pm
  • Should arrive at school by 8:45am
  • Are dismissed from school after 12:15
  • Will sit their test in the upstairs area of the main school building
  • The purpose of the practice test is
    • To familiarise students with the externally-assessed test they will be required to sit in 2020
    • To provide feedback to students and teachers on areas of written communication and general knowledge skills. This feedback will be used by teachers to target specific areas of need to further support students in their VCE subjects in in 2019-2020

All year 10 students:

  • Are encouraged to attend the internally-assessed GAT from 9:00am to 12:15 (see above for details)
  • Year 10 students wishing to sit the test should email their names to Brydie Hind at hib@www.wssc.vic.edu.au for planning purposes. 
  • Year 10s not sitting the test are not required at school

All students who attend the test may wear appropriate casual clothing (warm, no open shoes, no inappropriate graphics or slogans on clothing). No uniform is required.

The school will remain open in the afternoon and supervision will be provided in the library and the year 12 study centre for those students wanting or needing to remain at school until 3:20pm.
