Hi everyone,
As was announced by the Premier, Dan Andrews, all students Victoria can begin to return to school on Wednesday the 28th of July. All WSSC students will return on this day.
It will mean a return to normal schooling albeit with a few changes. Bell times remain the same, uniform requirements remain the same and your classes remain the same

You no doubt have loads of questions on how this is going to work. Hopefully most of these will be answered below.
This information is correct as at 27/7/2021 and may change as new directives come from the Chief Medical Officer of Victoria, the Victorian Government and the Education Department.

A reminder that the Delta variant is much more transmissible and much more prevalent in young people so we are required to be more vigilant this time around.

What is happening about the GAT?
The Year 12 GAT has been postponed to the 12th of August  and the Year 10 & 11 trial GAT has been cancelled. This Thursday the 29th of July will be a normal school day.

Is Friday still a pupil free day?
No! The Federation of Government Schools conference has been cancelled. It will be a normal school day.

What is in place at the school to ensure our safety?
The same protocols as last time will be in place to ensure student and staff safety. These are:

  • All school gates will be open at the beginning and end of the day to reduce the risk of congregation.
  • Students will be required to avoid physical contact wherever possible.
  • Hand sanitiser will be available at the entrances of all buildings. Students will be expected to use this each time they enter.
  • Hand sanitiser will be available in all classrooms. Students will be expected to use it when they enter.
  • Social distancing measures will be put in place wherever practical. Eg: canteen queue, front office.
  • Cleaners will be on site during the day to sanitise high touch areas.
  • Fresh air circulation has been increased in the main building. Where possible doors and windows in other buildings will be left open.
  • Students will be expected to sanitise their desk and chair before they sit down at their desk. Cleaning products will be supplied.

Are we expected to be social distancing?
Yes, wherever possible. Students will be expected to do whatever they can to maintain social distance. This will not always be possible in classes but the college is wishing to do everything we can to ensure the safety of everybody, so we will be asking students to help with this.

Will we be using MS Teams or will class be back to normal?
Classes will be returning to normal.

What about mobile phones?
The mobile phone policy remains in place. We require students to put their phone in their locker. We do not encourage students leaving their phones in their bags when they take their bag to class as we will not be able to guarantee its security.

What about the canteen?
The canteen will be open. Social distancing measures will be in place to ensure the safety of students and staff.

What if I am sick?
Students and staff are strongly encouraged to stay home if they are displaying cold/flu symptoms.
