If you did not receive this letter via SMS along with an exposure date, please disregard. WSSC will only notify of primary close contact status via SMS or Phone call.

Dear Parent/Guardian,
Wodonga Senior Secondary College has recently been notified of another positive case in our school community and your child has been identified as a primary close contact (PCC) of the positive case.

The possible dates of exposure (day 0) with the positive case were indicated in the text message you received. Please check your child’s attendance on the Parent Portal if unsure. Use your child’s last date of attendance within the indicated date range to work out day 0.

This means your child needs to limit their movements by getting a CoVID test as soon as possible and isolating at home.

Information about the local testing centers can be found at: https://www.awh.org.au/covid-19/covid-19-testing/

The current isolation rules are different for people depending on their vaccination status, so please look at the table below to identify whether your child needs to follow the 7 or 14 day isolation rules.

If your child is fully vaccinated (2 doses)

Your child is at Moderate Risk

  • As your child is fully vaccinated, a 7-day quarantine period will apply so get tested asap and again on day 6 of isolation. Day 1 is the day after the exposure date.
  • You will NOT receive notification from the Department of Health to end quarantine, so the negative test result notification is proof that they can leave quarantine.
  • A close contact list has been provided to the DET central team and to the Department of Health.

Year 12 students who have been notified that you are a primary close contact (PCC), and you have a scheduled exam during your isolation period, you MUST contact Brydie Hind (HIB@www.wssc.vic.edu.au) as soon as you find out. Ms Hind will be able to give you personalised advice about exams based on your situation. YOU MUST NOT ATTEND EXAMS WITHOUT CONTACTING HER BEFOREHAND FOR INSTRUCTIONS, if you are a close contact.

If your child is un-vaccinated or had 1 dose of the vaccine

Your child is at High Risk

  • As your child is not fully vaccinated, a 14-day quarantine period will apply so get tested asap and again on day 13 of isolation.

Before your child returns to school

Before your child returns to school you must email the College at the following confidential email address: covidresults@wssc.vic.edu.au

  1. Evidence of your child’s negative test result on Day 6 or Day 13.
  2. Inform the College of your child’s current vaccination status.

Please contact the college if you would like any further information or clarification of the above information.

Regards,

Vern Hilditch
Executive Principal
