Congratulations to our amazing Year 10 Girls Table Tennis team. They travelled to Melbourne on the Tuesday afternoon ready for the challenge of taking on other State Finalists at MSAC (Melbourne Sports & Aquatic Centre) on Wednesday 15 November. The team was represented by Sarah Gorka, Grace Phillips, Constance Dodd and Jessica Pickersgill.
In the first match the team played East Doncaster SC being defeated 5-1. Our girls rallied throughout the match and won a rubber 3-2 coming from 2-0 games down in the doubles with Connie and Jess. The second match was played against Mac Robertson Girls HS. This team went on to the play in the Grand Final and were too good for us winning 6-0. The last game of the day was against Gilson College. This was a close encounter with games going into advantage.
The final doubles with Grace and Sarah was 2-all with a final game to help decide the overall result. Grace and Sarah remained focused and composed to pull off a close win in the final game 11-9. Overall, Wodonga Senior SC won 4-2. The most pleasing aspect of our participation in a State Final was the positive interaction with all teams, coaches and officials. Congratulations ‘Team Wodonga’ and thank you all of the staff members who have supported the team from SSV Upper Hume Division to SSV Hume Region and ultimately to SSV State Finals.
